HEAD OF ESTIMATION – COMPLEX STEEL STRUCTURES

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for both engineering and numbers? Do you have experience in cost estimation for complex projects and enjoy crafting competitive proposals? Then this is the role for you! CIG, based in Groningen, is looking for a HEAD OF ESTIMATION who goes beyond numbers. You will lead the estimation process, manage a small team, and actively contribute to the optimization of one-of-a-kind projects in bridge construction, architecture, and steel engineering. Your work forms the foundation of innovative structures with international prestige.

YOUR ROLE

As Head of Estimation, you will be the analytical and technical cornerstone of our proposal phase. You will:

  • Manage a team of a Conceptual Engineer and a Proposal Engineer.

  • Coordinate the estimation process, set priorities, and monitor progress.

  • Prepare proposals based on technical drawings, supplier information, and internal input.

  • Incorporate risk assessments and provide transparent cost breakdowns.

  • Refine and maintain estimation methods using post-calculation and historical data.

  • Contribute to a professional and uniform proposal structure, including textual refinement.

  • Assist in drafting technical specifications and contract documents for promising projects.

  • Unite stakeholders from Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and suppliers to create realistic, executable proposals.

  • Play an active role in strategic risk management and improving profitability.

  • Build and maintain a reliable database of suppliers and cost parameters.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You are someone who keeps the bigger picture in mind without losing sight of the details. Analytical, decisive, and able to align diverse interests. Ideally, you have experience in complex technical project environments.

  • Higher vocational or academic level (HBO/WO), with a technical or commercial background

  • Proven experience in cost estimation for technical projects

  • Leadership experience in a technical setting

  • Skilled in Excel, estimation tools, and preferably ERP systems

  • Familiarity with 3D software such as Rhino is a plus

  • Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness

  • You contribute to contract preparation and internal handover to project teams

  • Fluency in Dutch and English is required
