Intersection

Intersection is a monumental Corten steel sculpture by Anish Kapoor, realized in 2012. Measuring approximately 5.15 meters high, 8.13 meters long, and 5.14 meters wide, the work uses large curved steel surfaces to explore the relationship between solid form, internal space, and void.

The sculpture combines the substantial physical presence of weathering steel with sweeping concave forms and openings that alter the viewer’s perception of the structure. As visitors move around the work, its curved interior and exterior surfaces create changing relationships between light, shadow, depth, and volume. Intersection was exhibited by Lisson Gallery in London as part of Kapoor’s 2012 solo exhibition.

CIG contributed to the realization of Intersection, continuing our work with Anish Kapoor on monumental steel sculptures. The construction shares similarities with other large-scale Kapoor works realized with CIG, using precisely formed steel plates to translate complex curved forms into a buildable structure.
