A sculptural stainless steel canopy transforms Library Walk into more than a passage between Manchester Central Library and the Town Hall Extension. Its dynamic form reflects the surrounding buildings and the movement beneath it, while the mirror-polished underside creates an ever-changing interplay of light and reflections. Carefully tapered edges reduce the canopy's visual impact, allowing it to sit comfortably alongside the neighboring listed buildings.

CIG was responsible for the engineering and production of the canopy's mirror-polished stainless steel surface. Precision manufacturing and an exceptional surface finish were essential to achieving the canopy's seamless reflective appearance and bringing the architect's vision to life.

By combining contemporary craftsmanship with its historic surroundings, Library Walk has become a distinctive public space that connects old and new in the heart of Manchester.
