Traiano Metro Station - Aluminum Entrance
NA Italy
The aluminum entrance to the Università Monte Sant’Angelo Metro Station is defined by a smooth, tubular form that appears sunken into the ground. Quiet and restrained in its expression, the entrance reads as a void in the landscape, closely relating to the surrounding low-rise context of Naples’ Traiano district.
Designed by Anish Kapoor in collaboration with Amanda Levete’s studio AL_A, the sculptural form offers a subtle transition between the city and the underground, contrasting with the station’s more expressive corten steel entrance while maintaining a shared architectural language.
CIG supported the realization of the entrance through engineering and technical development, translating the sculptural intent into a buildable aluminum structure in close collaboration with the artist and architect.
