Michael Gröller Bridge

The Michael Gröller Bridge connects the Institute of Science and Technology Austria campus with its Tech-Park across the B14 federal road in Klosterneuburg. Designed by RCR Arquitectes, the pedestrian and cycling bridge is formed by two slender steel elements that diverge and reconnect, creating a fluid connection between the two sides of the campus.

The bridge consists of a deck crossing and a lower ramp that merge into a single steel structure near the western abutment. With a maximum free span of approximately 45 meters, the closed steel box construction is made from thin, stiffened plates and shaped to reflect the structural forces within the bridge. Beyond improving circulation and safety, the project strengthens the physical connection between research, innovation, and the surrounding community.

CIG contributed to the realization of the bridge, supporting the delivery of this distinctive steel structure as part of the wider ISTA campus development.
