Alga(e)zebo is an experimental architectural installation by Marcos Cruz and Marjan Colletti that explores the relationship between architecture and living systems. Created in connection with the London Olympics, the structure was installed in Euston Square Gardens, where its unconventional form was designed to interact directly with the surrounding landscape.

Rather than separating the structure from nature, its irregular outline allows existing trees and bushes to grow through and around it. Intricate surface patterns provide opportunities for smaller plants to become integrated into the installation, while columns containing algae further explore the combination of biological material and constructed form.

Working closely with the designers, CIG was responsible for the engineering and realization of the structure. Our scope included material procurement, fabrication, welding, and on-site installation in London, translating the complex architectural concept into the finished installation.
